Downtown/State Street:
With its red-roofed Spanish-style buildings, downtown Santa Barbara is a great place to spend a day or more. The main thoroughfare, State Street, which runs from the beach right through the heart of the main business district, with its shopping, galleries, cafés and restaurants, gardens, bakeries, pubs, and more.

Shopping
The Paseo Nuevo shopping center downtown and La Cumbre Plaza, a couple of miles up State Street offer more than 100 shops and restaurants between them, but downtown Santa Barbara is filled with small independent retailers tucked away in quiet Spanish-style couryards and along winding lanes.

Stearns Wharf

Where State Street ends at the beach, Stearns Wharf extends into the Pacific Ocean. It's a wonderful place for sunset walks, a seafood dinner, more shopping, or a visit to the Ty Warner Sea Center, where you can learn about all that makes Santa Barbara’s coastal environment unique.
