Facilities & Labs - Rooms & Halls

Bren Hall has an array of gathering places that are used for a variety of purposes. The Bren Visitor's Center is the physical introduction to Bren Hall. Five meeting and conference rooms serve faculty, students, and guests for teaching seminars, meetings, presentations, and executive programs. The courtyard and breezeways provide pleasant, informal interaction areas.

Visitor Center (above)
Located on the first floor in a 584-square-foot gathering space, the Visitor Center is the dedicated starting point for all tours of the building. It features large posters that provide information on the design and construction of Bren Hall, and printed materials about the School and its programs are also available. Visitors can take self-guided or scheduled guided tours. The Visitor Center is an informal area in which to gather for receptions before and after special events in the Colloquium and Seminar Rooms or on the Dean's Terrace.

Colloquium Room (#1414 - left)
This 1,785-square-foot lecture theater/multi-media room located on the first floor of Bren Hall features stadium-style seating for 100 and state-of-the-art distance-learning capabilities. It is the primary teaching space for environmental economics, business, law, and policy education.

Seminar Room (#1424)

Located next to the Colloquium Room on the first floor, this 1,293-square-foot space accommodates approximately 70 people and is used for special lectures and symposia. Its audio-visual equipment includes projection screens that enable Colloquium Room presentations to be simulcast here large groups.

Dean's Conference Room (#2436) & Terrace
The 560-square-foot Dean's Conference Room is located on the second floor of Bren Hall, in the office wing. Glass doors open onto the Deckers Outdoor Corporation Terrace, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The conference room can seat 20-30 people in a horseshoe configuration; flexible table design allows for other configurations as well. The room has a motorized screen, data projector, DVD, VCR, a computer, a podium, audio inputs, and an Internet connection. The Deckers Outdoor Corporation Terrace accommodates up to 80 people, using 10 round tables that seat eight each for meals. It is a popular venue for media events and often hosts coffees, lunches, dinners, and receptions associated with Bren School events, such as workshops, seminars, conferences, and professional meetings. (Please note that the Deckers Outdoor Corporation Terrace is not available for rental or use not associated with the Bren School or UCSB.)

Sycamore Conference Room (#1510)
The Sycamore Conference Room is located on the first floor of Bren Hall just off the central courtyard. This 506-square-foot room seats 22 people around a center table. It has a motorized screen, data projector, DVD, VCR, audio inputs, a computer, a podium and an internet connection.

Oak Conference Room (#1520)
The Oak Conference Room is also located on the first floor of Bren Hall. This 360-square-foot room seats 18 people around a center table. It has a motorized screen, data projector, DVD, VCR, audio inputs, a computer, a podium and an internet connection.

Pine Conference Room (#3526)
The Pine Conference Room is located on the third floor of Bren Hall. It seats 22 people around a center table, and has a pull-down screen, data projector, DVD, VCR, audio inputs, a computer, a podium, and an internet connection.

Bonsai Conference Room (#4402)
The Bonsai Conference Room is located on the fourth floor of Bren Hall. It typically seats six people around a center table, and is a good venue for small, quiet meetings.

Central Courtyard (below)
The central courtyard is the focal point of Bren Hall, with conference and meeting rooms opening out into this sunny 5,727 square-foot space punctuated with sycamore trees and wooden benches.

Breezeways

The large third-floor terrace (right) is a spacious outdoor area overlooking the central courtyard (left). Additionally, three second-floor open-air areas with circular tables and dry-erase boards — Poppy Bridge, Dandelion Bridge, and Sage Bridge — provide space for informal for student and staff classes, meetings, or meals.
